Spondon is fortunate to have a whole range of different groups, clubs and other local organisations, all of which contribute to the fantastic community feeling that we have in Spondon. From activities for youngsters to local history groups, there's something for everyone in Spondon.

Community Care Hub

The Community Care Hub launched in late 2022 and aims to support the Spondon community with food, warmth and kindness to make life a little easier and bring the community together. The Hub's primary focus is as a food bank service. Other types of support are also on offer and the Hub also hope to begin hosting special community events and activities in the near future too.

Friends of Spondon Parks

The group of local volunteers is committing to maintaining and improving Spondon's parks and green spaces for all to enjoy. The group organises regular activities such as litter picks, bulb planting and park clean-ups and well as supporting campaigns around related topics like dog fouling.  They are also currently fundraising to add new play equipment to South Avenue recreation ground.

Friends of Spondon Station

A community volunteer group looking to improve the environment around Spondon station as well as promoting the station and rail services through Spondon while also campaigning for an increase to existing services.

Royal British Legion - Spondon Branch

The Royal British Legion in Spondon meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 8pm in Spondon Liberal Club. They fundraise throughout the year for the RBL charity and also help to organise the annual Remembrance commemorations in Spondon. The group celebrated its centenary in 2021.

Safer Spondon

The Safer Spondon community group work alongside the Police where possible to Keep Spondon Safe and to promote SmartWater & other security items at a discounted price.

Spondon Methodist Stay and Play

Spondon Methodist Church, Lodge Lane

Supporting families with children from 0 to school age, the group meets on a Friday afternoon between 1-3pm during term times. It's an opportunity for children to engage with other children and for parents/carers to meet with others too. Each session typically includes crafts, singing, stories and a drink and snack. Costs are £2 per week for one child and adult plus 50p for each additional child/adult. Registration/booking is required.    

Spondon Neighbourhood Board

Spondon Neighbourhood Board is a group of people working together to improve the local area and to maintain strong community connections within Spondon. The Board is made up of local councillors, residents and representatives from community organisations and public services. These include local Police and Fire Teams, Spondon Traders, Neighbourhood Watch and more. The Board decide how a specific allocation of budget for our area is best utilised to improve Spondon and to support local events and initiatives. Spondon Parent and Toddler Group

Spondon Parent and Toddler Group is a regular group for Babies and Children from 0 to 5 years and their parents. It runs every Thursday morning from 9.15am (term time only) at Spondon Village Hall. Each session includes a time of play from 9.15 with a drink and a biscuit for the children who are old enough at around 10am then a craft activity each week plus birthdays and singing. No booking is necessary. Just turn up on the day to get involved.

Trees for Spondon

Trees for Spondon is a local voluntary organisation, with the purpose of planting one tree for every Spondon resident, over a period of 5 years. Our aim is to improve the local environment and also to do what we can to offset the effects of climate change, by absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere. Volunteers are always welcome to help with further planting as well as fundraising efforts.

Vernon Arms Folk and Acoustic Club

Meets every Tuesday at 8.15pm at the Vernon Arms. Friendly club with own sound system - we welcome all types of music with an acoustic feel.
