Free bike marking events

Derby City Council are working in partnership with Derbyshire Constabulary to carry out free bike marking across the City in January and February.

Members of the public have the chance to have their bikes, scooters and skateboards securely marked and registered for free. The City and Neighbourhood Partnership have purchased a number of bike marking kits which will be available on a first come first served basis. The kit works by marking the bike with a unique code, which is linked to the owner’s details on a secure database. If their cycle is stolen and subsequently found, police can use this code to ensure the bike is returned back to its rightful owner.

If you have had a new bike for Christmas or just want to protect your existing one come along to the following locations:

Saturday 16th January – 10am – 2pm – Samways Cycles, Ashbourne Road

Saturday 23rd January – 10am – 2pm – Hawks Cycles, London Road

Saturday 30th January – 10am – 2pm – The Bike Shop, Monk Street

Saturday 13th February – 10am – 2pm – Cyclo Monster, Derby Road, Spondon
